During warm summer months, ambient dust settles onto the furnace burners and heat exchanger surfaces. During the first cold snap, this thin layer of dust burns off, producing a mild, transient burning odor that typically disappears within 30 to 45 minutes. If the smell persists, smells of burning plastic/wiring, or produces visible smoke, shut down the system and call (877) 719-1221 immediately.

Yes. Modern thermostats communicate low-voltage signals (24VAC) to the furnace control board. Dead internal batteries, damaged wiring, loose C-wire connections, or faulty internal relays will prevent your furnace from receiving the heating call. Our technicians in Aurora, Ohio test control circuit voltages and can re-wire or recalibrate your thermostat during the service call.

Cold air discharge usually points to an extinguished pilot flame, an oxidized flame sensor rod that shuts down the gas valve after a few seconds, an overheated heat exchanger tripping the high-limit switch, or an ignition lock-out. Our certified technicians in Aurora, Ohio utilize digital multimeters and combustion testers to pinpoint the exact failure point and restore comfortable heat.

HVAC manufacturers and safety organizations recommend scheduling professional maintenance once per year, ideally in early autumn prior to continuous winter operation. Annual tune-ups clean combustion residues, verify gas pressure, inspect electrical connections, and verify safety controls, which prevents mid-winter breakdowns and lowers monthly utility bills in Aurora, Ohio.
